Revered Pandit Sri Kashinath Mishra Ji discusses three measures for protection from Kaliyuga, among which the most significant is the daily reading of the 'Shrimad Bhagavatam.' A question also arises: Why only read Shrimad Bhagavatam among all scriptures?

Lord Narayan in verse 2 of the Shrimad Bhagavat Mahatmya, taken from Chapter 16 of the Vishnu Khanda of the Skanda Purana, states the effects of daily reading and worship of Shrimad Bhagavatam.

Nityam Bhagavatam yastu Puranam pathate narah.

Pratyaksharam bhavettasya Kapiladaanajam phalam ||2||

- Shrimad Bhagavat Mahapurana (Mahatmya)

Meaning: The person who daily reads the Bhagavat Purana gains the merit equivalent to giving a cow in donation with every syllable read.

The description in verse 4 goes as follows -

Yah pathet prayato nityam shlokam Bhagavatam sut.

Aṣṭādaśapurāṇānāṁ phalam āpnoti mānavaḥ ||4||

- Shrimad Bhagavat Mahapurana (Mahatmya), Shloka 4
Meaning: The person who conscientiously reads a verse of the Shrimad Bhagavat daily attains the benefit of reading all eighteen Puranas.

The reverend Pandit Sri Kashinath Mishra Ji states that a person who daily reads the Shrimad Bhagavatam is liberated from the defects of Kaliyuga, corroborated by Lord Narayan in the Shrimad Bhagavat Mahatmya.

Shlokartham shlokapadam va varam Bhagavatam grihe.

Shatasho'ath sahasraishcha kimanyaih shastrasangraih ||11||

- Shrimad Bhagavat Mahapurana (Mahatmya), Shloka 11
Meaning: Having even half a verse or a quarter verse of the Bhagavatam in the home is considered supremely beneficial, making collections of hundreds and thousands of other texts redundant. It is clear that daily reading of the Shrimad Bhagavatam alone grants the fruit of reading all the scriptures.

Where Lord Narayan states in verse 5:

Nityam mama katha yatra tatra tishthanti Vaishnavah.

Kalibahya naraste vai yeh'rchayanti sada mama ||5||

- Shrimad Bhagavat Mahapurana (Mahatmya), Shloka 5
Meaning: Where my stories are recited daily, there reside my followers like Prahlada. Those who constantly worship my Bhagavata scripture are beyond the reach of Kali; he has no influence over them.

Shrimad-bhagavatam punyamayurarogyapushṭidam.

Pathanacchravanad vapi sarvapapaih pramucyate ||18||

- Shrimad Bhagavat Mahapurana (Mahatmya), Shloka 18

Meaning: This holy Purana, Shrimad Bhagavatam, bestows longevity, health, and nourishment; reading or even hearing it frees a person from all sins.
It is clear that daily reading of Shrimad Bhagavatam frees one from all the defects of Kaliyuga.
