Even after dividing the Vedas, composing the epic Mahabharata, and writing the eighteen Puranas, Maharishi Veda Vyasa's mind remained incomplete.
Then Devrishi Narad told Vyasa, "The reason for that incompleteness is that you had not composed a book in which the character of Lord Shri Krishna's leela, qualities, and incarnations were described."
In Kaliyuga, human lifespans will be shorter, and their intellects will also be unable to comprehend the Vedas and other sacred texts and scriptures. Therefore, Ved Vyasa composed the Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran to save the low-intellect humans of Kaliyuga, and God promised that I will always be present in Bhagwat.
This element has been created from the eternal Brahma. It is the essence of all the Vedas, Puranas, and Upanishads, which is why it is a Mahapuran. Daily reading this supreme scripture shows no untimely death, disease, epidemic, fear of enemies, etc., and man can attain Bhagwat(god) even in Kaliyuga and reach ultimate salvation.
Benefits of reading
This Shrimad Bhagwat is a very secret and mysterious Purana. It gives the experience of God's form and is the essence of all the Vedas. This unique lamp illuminates spiritual elements for those trapped in the world and seeking to escape the deep darkness of ignorance. Shukdevji (Shuka), the teacher of great sages, has described it out of compassion for them.
Both hearing and singing the glory of Lord Shri Krishna are purifying. He comes and resides in the heart of those who listen to His story and destroy their evil desires, because He is the eternal friend of the saints.
When the constant reading of Shrimad Bhagwat destroys evil desires, one attains permanent love for the pure fame of Lord Shri Krishna. Then the emotions of lust and greed are calmed, and the mind becomes free from them, becoming pure and situated in purity.
In this way, when all worldly attachments are erased by loving devotion to God and the heart is filled with joy, then the essence of God is automatically experienced. As soon as the self-realisation takes place, the knot in the heart breaks, and all doubts disappear; the bondage of karma also diminishes.
Due to this, intelligent people continuously show love and devotion to Lord Shri Krishna with great joy, which leads to self-satisfaction.
