Ashvatthama, the son of Saint Dronacharya, was not truly immortal. He was made a 'Chiranjeevi', which means someone who lives until the end of Kaliyuga, not because of a boon, but due to a curse given by Lord Krishna for committing a grave sin. He killed the sons of the Pandavas while they were asleep and misused the powerful ‘Brahmastra’ weapon.
The Curse of Lord Krishna
Lord Krishna cursed Ashvatthama to wander the earth alone, in pain, with a bad condition of his body. He would receive no love, no relief through death, and would live in this suffering state until the end of Kaliyuga. The divine gem that was embedded in his forehead was also taken away, increasing his misery.
According to Bhavishya Malika, Kaliyuga has already ended, and this is the transition period to Satya Yuga. So there should not be any confusion about his birth in Germany. He will fight on the side of Lord Kalki in the Third World War in his divine army.
