What should we read Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran or Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta ?
By reading Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, the sins of infinite births are destroyed. By reading this, gets as much virtue as performing a yagya like Ashwamedha yagya and even more than that. Srimad Bhagwat contains the essence of all the 18 Puranas. That is why according to Bhavishya Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran has more importance. If a person reads Shrimad Bhagwat Maha Puran throughout his life, he attains 'Moksha' in the same birth.
Svānubhavākhila -śruti-sāram-ekam-adhyātma-dīpam-ati-titīrṣatāṃ tamo’dhvam |Saṃsāriṇāṃ karuṇayā’ha purāṇa-guhyaṃ taṃ vyāsa-sūnum-upayāmi gurum munīnām ||- Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapurana (1, 2)
This is the one who experiences the form of God and it is the essence of all the Vedas.
People who are stuck in this world and want to go out of this darkness of deep ignorance ,for them it is a unique lamp that illuminates the spiritual elements. In fact, out of compassion for them, Shri Shukdevji, the teacher of great sages(Rushi), has described this.
